On Wednesday, May 14, the Petit Robert unveils the 150 new words included in its 2026 edition. France Inter was able to consult the list. "Dinguerie," "capter," "chill," and "tarpin" are among the new additions.

In the "Society" section, we find "chemsex", "chemical submission", "micro-aggression", "silent resignation", when an employee invests as little as possible in his work due to demotivation, or even the notion of "white mourning", "tested by the manifestations of the neurodegenerative disease of a loved one who is still alive" .

On the new technology side, Le Petit Robert is updating itself on concepts related to artificial intelligence, with the verb "prompter," meaning to address a request in natural language to an artificial intelligence, or "hallucination" in the sense of an erroneous response from the AI.

In the "familiar" section, we find the expressions "capter" (to catch up) to say "to meet up" or "c'est carré" (to say "perfect"). "Dinguerie" (to be crazy) and "chill" (to chill) have also found their place in the new edition.

Finally, in the "Francophonie" section, Le Petit Robert includes local expressions, both French and foreign. To say "podcast," you can now use the Quebec expression "balado," from the term "baladodiffusion." The Swiss see "carac," those small tartlets filled with chocolate and covered with green icing, finding their way into the dictionary.

As for fans of the rap song Bande Organisé , they will appreciate the arrival of the South-Eastern expression "ma gâtée", an expression of affection, often to refer to one's girlfriend, popularized by SCH. Another expression originating from the south-east of France is "tarpin de" to mean "a lot of". For example, there are tarpin de new words in Le Petit Robert.
